Remember and Rejoice

 

Remember: Good Friday—On Good Friday, April 18 at 7 pm, come for a service of remembrance, reflection, confession and hope led by Pastor Mel, Pastor Scott, and the Jonesboro Choir and Orchestra.
Rejoice: Easter Sunday—On Easter Sunday, April 20 at 8 am and 10:45 am, will be is a time of rejoicing, victory and declaration led by Pastor Mel, Pastor Scott, and the Jonesboro Choir and Orchestra. (There is no evening service on Easter.)

Men’s Basketball League for Ages 30+

Begins Monday, April 14

The ROC Men’s Basketball League is now open to men age 30 and older. Sign-ups are still going on at the ROC during regular operating hours. The cost is $30 and can only be paid by cash or check. The season is six Monday nights (6-9 pm) and begins on April 14.

Helping Hurting People (New Discipleship Class)

Wednesday, April 23 & 30 only, Fellowship Hall, Room C, 6 pm - 6:45 pm

Have you ever wanted to visit others in times of bereavement but didn’t know what to say? Have you ever felt compelled to visit that co-worker or friend in the hospital but you weren’t sure when or how to do it? A new mini-discipleship class, “Helping Hurting People,” can equip you to minister in both situations. Drawing on years of experience, Irvin Pearre will teach “Ministering During Times of Bereavement” on Wednesday, April 23. Then on Wednesday, April 30, Hinton Harris will share what he has learned from making hundreds and hundreds of hospital visits in “Ministering During Times of Illness.” This class will held in Fellowship Hall, Room “C” from 6 pm to 6:45 pm.

Family Movie Night - Grace Unplugged

Friday, April 25, 7 - 9:30 pm, The ROC

Marriage Matters presents "Grace Unplugged" on Friday, April 25 from 7 to 9:30 pm at the ROC.
Children's movie will be "The Lost Medallion" for ages 5 and up. It will be shown in the Cornerstone Room, also at the ROC.
Tickets are available at the door. Cost is $1 per person and $5 max per family. Ticket includes the movie, popcorn and a drink. Childcare is available from birth to age 4 by reservation only (call Cress Welch or Leisa Martin at 770.478.6710).

National Day of Prayer 2014

Thursday, May 1, First Baptist Jonesboro, 12 noon - 1 pm, Fellowship Hall

Join us for music, worship and prayer. Purchase your ticket  for a box lunch (barbecue brisket sandwich, coleslaw, baked beans, apple pie, tea and water) for $4 to be served that day from 11 am until 11:30 am also in the Fellowship Hall. Tickets are required for the lunch and may be purchased in the church office from April 16-30.

I Am Second Roadside Grill Kids' Spring Musical

Sunday, May 4, 6 pm in the ROC, presented by the 1st - 5th Grade FBJ Choirs

 
I am Second Roadside Grill is based on the fact that Jesus is number one. In this story Nita Nicely, the owner of “I am Second,” has lived by the example taught her by her parents, to put others and the things of Jesus before herself. As the restaurant is about to go into foreclosure, a mysterious handyman does something completely unexpected and the local banker has a change of heart. No turn of events is a surprise to Nita, and everything leads to the honor and glory going where it should—to the Lord, first.

Garden City Beach, South Caroline

For College & Young Adults, July 28 - August 1

One Day Student Pastors Conference

Thursday, August 28, 12 noon - 8:30 pm, FBJ Fellowship Hall

Spend the day with 3 youth professors at the One Day Student Pastors Conference hosted by First Baptist Jonesboro. Speakers are Allen Jackson, PhD, Professor of Youth Education and Collegiate Ministry at New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary; Johnny L. Deruouen, PhD, Associate Professor of Student Ministry at Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary, and Alvin L. Experiencing God in Israel Tour

October 20-20, 2014

First Baptist Jonesboro and Blackaby Ministries International are co-hosting an “Experiencing God in Israel Tour” October 20-29, 2014 with Dr. Mel & Gina Blackaby, Daniel & Sarah Blackaby and Dr. Richard & Lisa Blackaby. This is a great opportunity to join them on a ten-day inspirational study tour. You will walk in the footsteps of Jesus, see the places you have read about in the Bible, sail on the Sea of Galilee, rededicate your life at the Jordan River, and experience the Lord’s Supper at the Garden Tomb.
